This tutorial was created April 17, 2003 and is the sole property of Bubbles' PSP. Please do not copy this tutorial or any part of this tutorial to add to another site unless you have permission from me to do so. Do not pass my tutorials around in emails or through yahoo groups. I am having problem with that right now and if the problem continues I am considering removing all my tutorials and closing down my site. Please respect the work that goes into writing a tutorial and do not claim any of my tutorials as your own.

For this tutorial you will need the following:

PAINT SHOP PRO (Trial Version)

DBS FLUX (From the index page, click on Plug-in Filters; a window will popup and from there click on the DBS Flux Collection download link)

A tube and font of your choice

Okay, let's get started!!

1. Open the tube in PSP that you are going to use for your tag. Shift+D to make a copy of your tube. Close the original tube so you can save it for future use. Image/Canvas Size/Change Canvas Size to 600w x 600h. See below.

2. Layers/Duplicate two (2) times. You should have three layers with your tube on it. X out (hide) the top two layers and make the bottom tube layer your active layer; below is what my layer palette looks like at this point.

3. Effects/PluginFilters/DBS Flux/Blast using the settings shown below:

4. Effects/PluginFilters/DBS Flux/Blast and this time change the direction to right. The percentage stays at 30%. Once again go to DBS Flux/Blast and this time change the direction to upwards using the same percentage amount. One more time go to DBS Flux/Blast and change the direction to downwards using the same percentage amount as before.

5. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 80; Blur 2.5; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen.

6. Go to your layer palette and make your second (middle) layer your active layer. Effects/PluginFilters/DBS Flux/Center Mirror using these settings: Mirrors 10; Rotation 106

7. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using the same settings as before: Opacity 80; Blur 2.5; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1.

8. Make your third layer (top layer) active. I did not resize my tube but if you want more of your bkg to show behind your tube, resize this tube layer now. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 80; Blur 12.3; Vertical 2; Horizontal 4 (forgot to make a screenshot for this one lol)

9. Hide (X out) your top layer and merge visible your bottom and middle layers. You can reduce the opacity of this layer if you wish; I didn't on this tag but usually I reduce the opacity to around 80-85%.

10. Click on your selection tool and set it to rectangle, feather 0, antialias unchecked. Your top tube layer should still be hidden. Make your merged layer your active layer and, with your selection tool, select a part of your bkg pattern that you wish to use for your text. Selections/Convert to seamless pattern.

11. Set your bkg style palette to patterns and select your pattern you just made for your text. Scale at 100% and angle is at 0. Select a color from your background and make it your foreground color; I'm using #605744.

12. Before we add our text, make layer 3 (your top layer) active; make sure your tube is in the position you want it and then go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Then go to Image/Resize and resize your image by 85%; resize all layers is NOT checked; see below. You will need to sharpen it after you resize if you did not use the Bicubic resize type.

13. Layers/New Raster Layer. Open your text box and type in the name or saying you want to add to your tag. I used the font Bickham Script Fancy 2; size 60; bold checked; center aligned; floating checked and antialias checked.

14. Position your text and then go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 85; Blur 2.5; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1. Do not deselect.

15. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 75; Blur 8.6; Vertical 2; Horizontal 4. Selections/Select None. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen.

16. Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste as a new image to get rid of excess canvas around your tag. Resize to desired size; layers/merge/merge all (flatten). Save in desired format.

I want to thank Sherry for testing this tutorial for me; I really appreciate you; below is Sherry's result of the center mirror tag.
