This tutorial created September 16, 2002 and is the sole property of Bubbles' PSP. Please do not remove tutorial in whole or part from my site unless you have permission from me. Psp groups, feel free to use any of my tutorials in your groups; I just ask that you share the url to the tutorial and not the tutorial itself.

For this tutorial you will need the following:

PAINT SHOP PRO (Trial Version)
FILTER FACTORY G
Jmsk06 I can't remember where I downloaded this mask from; please let me know if you recognize it as yours so I can give credit for it.
Silver pattern I'm not sure who is the creater of this silver pattern; if you recognize it as yours, please let me know so I can give you credit.

You will also need an image of your choice; I am using "The Mail Order Bride" by artist Alan Ayers ©2001 Harlequin. Mr. Ayers has given me permission to use his lovely artwork in my tutorials; please drop in and visit his lovely site.

1. Open the graphic you are using in PSP; Shift+D to make a copy of your graphic; close the original as we will be working with the copy. Resize to a workable size if needed; Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen after you resize.

2. Set your foreground styles box to black (#000000) and your background styles box to white (#FFFFFF). Layers/New Raster Layer. Select your floodfill bucket and floodfill your new layer with your black foreground color.

3. Masks/Load from Disk/Jmsk06.

4. Selections/From Mask. Masks/Delete. Merge into current layer? YES. Selections/Float.

5.Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 100; Blur 8.8; Vertical 2; Horizontal 2; repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to (-2). Selections/Select None.

6.With your magic wand set to tolerance 0 feather 6, click in the center of your mask. Layers/New Raster Layer. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 70; Blur 15; Vertical 5; Horizontal 5. Layers/New Raster Layer. Repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to (-5). Selections/Select None. Layers/Merge/Merge all (flatten).

7. Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0) and click on your white border to select. Change your bkg styles box to patterns and select your silver pattern fill. (Scale 100% Angle 0). Floodfill your selected border with your silver pattern fill. You may also use a BP preset if you prefer. Selections/Select None.

8. Toggle your bkg and foreground colors so that black is now your bkg color and the silver pattern fill your foreground color. Image/Add Borders 30 pixels symmetric checked. Click on the black border with your magic wand to select. Effects/PluginFilters/Filter Factory G/Pyramids w/depth using the default setting of 119 for Divisions. Do not deselect.

9. Effects/Noise/Add Noise at 8% uniform. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Selections/Select None.

10. Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. You will have to make your bkg color a color that is not in your border so that when you select your border it won't select some of the white or black pixels in the border you just finished. I made my color a light yellow; select your border with your magic wand and fill with your silver pattern fill or favorite BP preset. Selections/Invert.

11. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 70; Blur 15; Vertical 5; Horizontal 5; repeat this cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to (-5). Selections/Select None.

12. Set your background color to black. Image/Add Borders 35 pixels symmetric checked. Toggle your colors so that white is now your background color and go to Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Select your border with your magic wand and floodfill with your silver pattern fill or favorite BP preset. Selections/Select None. Apply corners if desired.

I want to thank Mouse for testing my tutorial; below is her lovely example of the tutorial.
