This tutorial created July 26, 2002 and is the property of Bubbles' PSP 2002. Please do not remove tutorial or any part of this tutorial from my site UNLESS I have given you permission to do so. As always, PSP groups, I am more than honored that you would want to use my tutorials in your groups; please feel free to use any of my tutorials that you wish as long as you share the link to the tutorial and not the tutorial itself. But, I have to admit, I always love to hear what groups are using my tuts, it spurs me to on to continue writing tuts :)
For this tutorial you will need:
PAINT SHOP PRO (Trial Version)
SIMPLE FILTERS
FILTER FACTORY GALLERY E
You will need the mask that is used in this tutorial. I downloaded this mask from Karen's Creations. She has some fantastic masks. The mask you will need is here. Download mask KC-038.
You will also need an image of your choice. The image I am working with is entitled "Lovers" and the artist is Beverley Lu. Beverely Lu has some really lovely artwork on her site, and she has been so kind as to give me permission to use some of her art in my tutorials. Beverly, I can't thank you enough. I consider it an honor to be able to use your artwork. Click here to pay a visit to Beverley Lu's site. You may also click on the banner at the bottom of the page to visit her site.
Gold glitter pattern that I'm using for the frame or a goldfill pattern of your choice; you may also use Blade Pro or Ulead. If you wish to use the same pattern as me, click here.
Corners (Optional)
Okay, let's get started on our tutorial!
1. Open your image in PSP; Shift+D to make a copy of the original; close the original as we will be working with the copy of your graphic. Change your foreground color to patterns and select the goldglitter pattern or pattern fill you chose to work with. Set your Scale size at 100% and Angle is 0. Make your background color white (#FFFFFF).
2. Layers/New Raster Layer. Floodfill your layer with your goldglitter pattern or pattern you chose. Masks/Load from Dis/kc-038.msk

3. Selections/From Mask. Masks/Delete. Merge into current layer? Yes. I clicked on my floodfill tool and filled my selected mask with the goldglitter pattern so it would be a little darker. This step is optional. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using the following settings: Opacity 75; Blur 1.2; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Selections/Select None.

4. With your background set to white (#FFFFFF)/foreground to your goldglitter pattern or pattern of choice, go to Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0) and click on your white border to select. Select your floodfill bucket and fill your white border with the goldglitter pattern or your pattern of choice. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 65; Blur 2.5; Vertical 2; Horizontal 2. Repeat dropshadow changing the vertical and horizontal to -2. Selections/Select None.

5. Shift+D to make a copy of your graphic with the mask and border; minimize it for now. We will be using it soon. Set your background color to black (#000000). Image/Add Borders 5 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand and click on your black border to select.
6. Effects/PluginFilters/Simple/Quick Tile. Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Glass using the settings shown below. Do not deselect.

7. Change your foreground style from your goldfill pattern to the color white (#FFFFFF). Effects/Artistic Effects/Hot Wax Coating. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Selections/Select None.
8. Once again, set your background color to white (#FFFFFF) and your foreground style to your goldglitter pattern or pattern of choice. Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Click on the white border with your magic wand to select. Floodfill with your goldglitter pattern or pattern of choice. Selections/Select None.
9. Image/Add Borders 30 pixels symmetric checked. Click on your border with your magic wand to select. Bring up your minimized graphic and go to Edit/Copy; close this image out as we will not need it again. Go to your main image with your selected border and Edit/Paste Into Selection. Effects/Blur/Gaussian Blur using 8.00 as the radius.

10. Effects/Noise/Add 6% Uniform checked. Keep selected.

11. Effects/PluginFilters/Filter Factory Gallery E/Hex Lattice using the default settings EXCEPT change the grid size to 16. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Do not deselect.

12. Selections/Invert. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 85; Blur 13.6; Vertical 5; Horizontal 5. Repeat dropshaow changing the vertical and horizontal settings to -5. Selections/Select None.

13. With your background color still set to white and foreground at your goldglitter pattern, go to Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand and click on your border to select. Floodfill with your goldglitter pattern or pattern of choice. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 85; Blur 2.5; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1. Repeat dropshadow changing the vertical and horizontal settings ot -1.

And now your frame is finished. You can add corners to your frame if desired. Resize to desired size and remember to go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen after you resize. Save in desired format.
