This tutorial created September 10, 2002 and is the sole property of Bubbles' PSP. Please do not remove this tutorial or any part of this tutorial from my site unless you have permission from me. PSP groups, feel free to use any of my tutorials that you wish; I just ask that you link to the tutorial and not send the tutorial itself through email or yahoogroups.

For this tutorial you will need:

PAINT SHOP PRO (Trial Version)

SUPER BLADE PRO (Optional)

JOHANN'S FILTERS (Aged Film)

GREG'S FACTORY OUTPUT 1 (Shear Tiles)

TWO MOON ONE (Fade Spook Spot)

You will also need an image to work with; if you wish to use the image I am using, click here. This image was downloaded from a site that claimed it was okay to use on the web; nonetheless, if anyone should know the artist's name, please email me and let me know so I can contact the artist about using the image.

You will also need the mask I am using, and you can get that here. I don't remember where I got this mask from, so if anyone knows whose it is, please let me know so I can give credit for it.

Corners (Optional)

Alright, let's get started!!

1. Open your image in Psp; Shift+D to make a copy of your image. Close the original as we will be working with the copy; that way you can save your original for future use.

2. Effects/PluginFilters/Johann's Filters/Aged Film using these settings: Scratches 22; Dust 31; Desaturate 129. (Note: These are just the settings I used to get my results; you may want to have more or less of an aged look)

3. Layers/New Raster Layer. Choose a color from your graphic and make it your foreground color. Set your background color to white (#FFFFFF). Floodfill your layer with your foreground color. I'm using #845A42. Masks/Load from Disk/Folk.msk. Masks/Invert.

4. Selections/From Mask. Masks/Delete. Merge into current layer? Yes. While you still have ants running around your mask go to Layers/Merge/Merge Visible. Effects/PluginFilters/Two Moon/Fade Spook Spot using the settings shown below. Keep Selected.

5. Effects/Noise/Add 4% uniform. Keep Selected.

6. Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel using the settings shown below; keep selected.

7. Selections/Invert. Selections/Float. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 65; Blur 20; Vertical 4; Horizontal 4; repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to (-4). Selections/Select None.

8. Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0) and click on your white border to select. Apply your favorite blade pro preset or goldfill pattern. I used the copper preset for my frame. Selections/Invert. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 75; Blur 25; Vertical 3; Horizontal 3. Repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to (-3). Selections/Select None.

9. Image/Add Borders 30 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand and click on your border to select. Effects/PluginFilters/Greg's Factory Output 1/Shear Tiles using the default settings.

10. Effects/Artistic Effects/Topography using the settings shown below; keep selected.

11. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 70; Blur 25; Vertical 3; Horizontal 3; repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to -3. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Deselect.

12. Image/Add Borders 3 pixels symmetric checked. Click on the white border with your magic wand to select. Apply your preset or goldfill pattern. Selections/Select None. Add corners if desired. Resize if necessary, remembering to go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen after you resize.
