This tutorial created June 8, 2002 and is ©Bubbles' PSP 2002. Please do not remove this tutorial or any parts of this tutorial from my site. PSP groups, feel free to share this tutorial with your groups; I just ask that you pass around the url to the tutorial and not the tutorial itself. I love hearing from groups if they use my tutorials and I also love seeing everyone's results. So drop me an email and show me your creations, okay!!

For this tutorial you will need

PAINT SHOP PRO (Trial Version)

SUPER BLADE PRO (Optional)

An image of your choice. The image that I'm using is by artist Alan Ayers and is used with his permission. The graphic is entitled "The Mail Order Bride" ©2001 Harlequin. Just click here to visit Mr. Ayers lovely site.

Corner brush or corner dings (optional).

You will also need the mask that is used in the tutorial.

Okay, let's get started!!

1. Open your image in PSP. Make a copy of your graphic (Shift+D) and close the original. We will be working with the copy of the graphic. Always make a copy of your graphic and use that so you will have your original in case you want to use it again in the future. Layers/New Layer. Set your background color to white (#FFFFFF). Click on your floodfill bucket and floodfill your new layer with your white background color.

2. Masks/Load From Disk and select irclipframe.msk from the pop up box. Masks/Invert. Masks/Delete. Merge into current layer? YES.

3. Selections/Select All. Selections/Float. Effects/PluginFilters/FlamingPear/Super Blade Pro and apply your favorite preset or, if your prefer, goldfill pattern. I am using Bold Gold and I applied my preset two times. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity 70; Blur 1.2; Vertical 1; Horizontal 1; repeat drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal setting to -1. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Selections/Select None. Layers/Merge/Merge All Flatten

4. With your background still set to white, Image/Add Borders 5 pixels symmetric checked.

5. Grab your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0) and click on your white border to select. Apply your bladepro preset or goldfill pattern. Selections/Invert. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 75; Blur 25; Vertical 3; Horizontal 3; repeat cutout changing vertical and horizontal settings to -3. Selections/Select None.

6. Click on your dropper tool and select a color from your graphic that you want to use on your frame. I'm using color #4B5D73. Make this color your background color. Image/Add Borders 25 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand and click on your border to select. Effects/Geometric Effects/Punch using 50 as the % of Effect. Go to Effects/ Geometric Effects and apply the punch effect again using the same % of Effect. Selections/Select None.

7. With your magic wand, click on the remaining border surrounding your frame. You may have to adjust the tolerance of your magic want to 20 or 30. Selections/Modify/Expand by 1. Keep selected. (See below for example).

8. Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Glass using the settings shown below. Apply Mosaic Glass effect one more time (total of two times). Keep selected.

9. Set your foreground to white (#FFFFFF) and then go to Effects/Artistic Effects/Hot Wax Coating. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Selections/Select None.

10. With your background color set to the color you previously selected from your graphic, go to Image/Add Borders 30 pixels symmetric checked. I am using the color #4B5D73. With your magic wand, select your border and go to Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds using these settings: Width 8; Opacity 43; Light from left/top checked. Do no deselect.

11. Effects/Texture Effects/ Mosaic Glass using the same settings as in step 8. Repeat Mosaic Glass effect one more time. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Do not deselect.

12. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity 75; Blur 12.5; Vertical 3; Horizontal 3; repeat cutout changing the vertical and horizontal settings to -3. Selections/Select None.

13. With your background color set to white (#FFFFFF), Image/Add Borders 5 pixels symmetric checked. Grab your magic wand and click on your white border to select. Apply your blade pro preset or goldfill pattern. Selections/Select None. Apply corner if desired. Kathie has some great corner brushes here. If you are using a corner ding or brush, be sure to add a new layer first (Layer/New Raster Layer). I used a corner brush size 100, applied my bold gold preset, and applied a drop shadow using these settings: Opacity 70; Blur 1.2; Vertical 0; Horizontal 0.

14. Then I duplicated that layer and went to Image/Mirror. I then duplicated that layer and went to Image/Flip. Once again, duplicate the active layer and go to Image/Mirror. You will have corner dings on all corners of your frame. Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten). Resize to desired size, remembering to go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen after you resize.. Below is another example using this tutorial. The artist of this lovely graphic is John Everett Millais.

I want to thank JenniJo for being one of the testers for this tutorial. Below is Jenni's results of the mosaic frame tutorial.
